Well, it looks like someone turned 2 1/2 years over the weekend and the twin stars will be 10 months this week! Some updates: Boy twin star now has 6 teeth while his sister is still 4 teeth behind. Our oldest is now speaking in short 2-3 word sentences so it's getting a lot easier to communicate with him as he continues to develop and grow. It's amazing how much his skills improve with time and he never ceases to surprise us with new words daily.
We finally got rid of the queen bed and replaced it with a king-sized mattress (on the floor) today. And because the little twinkies have been rolling over a lot (sometimes we have found one of them lying perpendicularly on top of the other!), they, too, have graduated from their shared co-sleeper (by Arm's Reach) to a queen-sized mattress on the floor enclosed by the portable playard (by North State Industries) that we used to have our oldest play in when he was their age. Tonight is the first night they will be sleeping on that bed so we're hoping everything goes smoothly with that arrangement (so far, so good -- it's been two hours and not a peep). Otherwise, we will have to find another alternative. We think this will also help them transition from sleeping in a co-sleeper (or "crib" as everyone else calls it) to an adult bed. The next step will be to have them all get used to sleeping with each other once the babies are no longer nursing at night.
So far, it's been a wondrous blessing how these two sleep through the night. We have found that they all have different personalities that also affect the way they all sleep so we just accommodate accordingly based on their temperaments. There's not a one-size-fits-all when it comes to sleep but we do whatever works for us -- whether one sleeps with us or the others sleep together in a separate room, whatever it takes to have a silent night on most nights and for us to all get some sleep!
