Learning Together

Many community colleges offer free continuing education courses, which include classes on parent education. It's no surprise that these classes tend to fill up quickly on the first day and often there is a wait list so we were excited that we were able to get enrolled in a class that meets once a week for eighteen weeks. A class like this was just what we had in mind but didn't know existed. We only knew of "preschools" in which the child is left behind on their own for several hours. I like that this class allows the parent to be with their child for the entire class, which is only three hours long. The child is able to socialize and interact with other children close in age while the parent is still there to supervise them. It's like preschool with parental supervision. Not only will this class provide toddlers a preschool experience without having to leave them behind, but will help parents organize their week and add structure to their day. Parent and child can share the experience of learning together in a preschool environment. :)
